Nigeria, Spain or Morocco? Granada striker with 5-game scoring streak picks national team allegiance
Published: January 09, 2025
Allnigeriasoccer.com can report with certainty that Granada CF's goal poacher Edna Imade, has expressed her desire to represent Nigeria over Spain and Morocco.
The 24-year-old forward, who was born in Morocco but raised in Seville, Spain, has been making waves in the Spanish women's league with her impressive goal-scoring form.
Imade's football journey began at the tender age of six, when she started playing for boys' teams in the small town of Carmona.
She later transitioned to indoor football and excelled, scoring for fun in two seasons for Nervión.
Her impressive performances caught the attention of scouts, and she eventually made her way to Málaga CF Femenino in the Reto Iberdrola league.
Imade's career has been on an upward trajectory ever since, with stints at Cacereño Femenino and Granada CF, where she has established herself as a prolific goal-scorer.
This season, Edna has been in electrifying form, scoring in each of her last five matches across all competitions.
Her standout performances have included scoring twice against Eibar, a crucial goal from the spot in a close loss to Real Betis, and a brace in Granada's 3-0 win over Sevilla.
As the search for a new goal-scoring queen to lead Nigeria's next generation continues, Edna Imade looks like a prime candidate for the task.
With her Moroccan and Spanish roots, Edna is eligible to represent three countries, but Nigeria is explicitly her preferred choice.
The Nigerian Football Federation will need to act quickly to secure Edna's services, as Spain may also be interested in having her represent their country.
However, Edna's desire to represent Nigeria gives the Super Falcons an edge in the race for her signature.
Nonetheless, it'll be wise for the country's football governing body to include her in upcoming international windows before the WAFCON to secure her attention.
