Rangers open preliminary talks with clubs interested in Super Eagles striker
Published: January 11, 2025
Rangers have initiated preliminary discussions with clubs expressing interest in Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers, as the Nigerian forward faces an uncertain future at Ibrox.
Dessers has struggled to find form this season with the Light Blues, having been relegated to the bench following the emergence of Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane.
Despite his talent, Dessers has failed to register a goal or assist in his last four Scottish Premier League appearances.
In contrast, Igamane has been in scintillating form, netting five goals and providing one assist during the same period.
As a result, Rangers have begun exploring potential offers for the Nigerian international in the upcoming winter transfer window.
In a statement on X, Rangers insider Joshua Barrie revealed that the Scottish club has opened talks with interested parties.
The Nigerian international has been linked with Serie A clubs Empoli and Cagliari.
A potential move to Italy would offer Dessers an opportunity to reignite his career.
The forward has netted twelve goals and registered four assists in 30 appearances across all competitions for Rangers, and his addition would bolster both teams in Serie A.
With the winter transfer window approaching, it remains to be seen whether Dessers will secure a move away from Rangers, a club where his future now appears uncertain.
