Tosin scores first career brace including 'made in Nigeria' goal as Chelsea thrash Morecambe
Published: January 11, 2025
Tosin Adarabioyo delivered a standout performance, scoring his first career brace as Chelsea secured a dominant 5-0 victory over Morecambe to advance to the next round of the FA Cup.
The 27-year-old center-back opened the scoring in the 39th minute with a long-range effort from outside the box after receiving a pass from Reece James.
His strike took a deflection off a Morecambe defender, wrongfooting goalkeeper Harry James Burgoyne and finding the back of the net.
Tosin sealed his brace in the 70th minute with a stunning effort assisted by fellow London-born Nigerian player Tyrique George.
The central defender up the ball at the edge of the box, taking a touch to set himself before curling a powerful shot into the top left corner marking his third goal of the season.
Christopher Nkunku, making amends for a missed penalty in the first half, doubled Chelsea's lead in the 50th minute.
The Frenchman reacted quickest to a parried shot from Burgoyne, calmly slotting home to extend the advantage.
Portuguese winger João Félix completed the rout with a late double, scoring twice within two minutes in the final stages of the game to secure a resounding win for the Blues.
Youngster Tyrique George also made a significant impact, providing two assists and playing a key role in Chelsea's fluid attacking play.
Tosin has become a regular in Enzo Maresca's squad following Wesley Fofana's injury, making 17 appearances across all competitions this season.
The commanding display against Morecambe is expected to further boost Tosin's confidence and solidify his place in the starting lineup.
