Victor Osimhen warned: Transfer to Manchester United will end in disgrace, expert claims
Published: January 14, 2025
Serhat Ulureren, a prominent Turkish football journalist, has warned Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles forward against moving to Manchester United amidst interest from several top European teams.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, has been making headlines in Turkey with his outstanding performances, scoring thirteen goals and providing six assists in seventeen appearances across all competitions.
His impressive form has fueled transfer speculations linking him with a move to several top European clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
Amid the growing interest, reports suggest that a release clause of approximately €75 million has been set by Napoli for a potential summer transfer.
However, Ulureren believes the Nigerian forward is not worth the quoted figure.
Speaking to Turkish outlet Habersarikirmizi, Ulureren criticized Osimhen's valuation, stating, "Victor Osimhen is overrated in my opinion. He is never a €50-60 million striker. He is a good centre forward but not a good striker."
The journalist further argued that Osimhen falls short compared to Galatasaray's current talisman Mauro Icardi and warned him against moving to Manchester United.
"Osimhen cannot meet Galatasaray's needs as much as Mauro Icardi. He wears down the opposition defence, creates confusion, creates space for his teammates, but he is not a player worth that money.
"Let him go to the Premier League, play for Manchester United, he will be disgraced."
Despite the criticism, Osimhen's consistent goal-scoring form continues to attract attention, with several European giants monitoring his situation closely ahead of the summer transfer window.
