'Intention is not to allow them to go' - Chelsea boss on the future of Brighton-linked CB Tosin
Published: January 20, 2025
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has commented on the futures of Tosin Adarabioyo and Axel Disasi amid speculation linking the central defenders with a departure from Stamford Bridge before the close of the January transfer window.
Brighton & Hove Albion have shown interest in signing the London-born Nigerian centre-back.
However, as first reported by allnigeriasoccer.com, there are currently no ongoing negotiations for Tosin to join the Seagulls or any other club before the transfer window closes.
Bundesliga and Italian Serie A clubs are believed to be monitoring the situation of Frenchman Axel Disasi.
Chelsea have issues in central defence, prompting the club to recall Sierra Leonean-born central defender Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Crystal Palace last week.
Hamstring injuries have sidelined Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile, ruling them out of contention for the upcoming games.
The key question is whether Tosin or Disasi will be offloaded following Trevoh Chalobah's recall from the Eagles.
Maresca stated that Chelsea have no intention of letting either player leave, but admitted that anything could happen in the winter transfer market.
Speaking to The Standard, the Italian football tactician said: "At the moment they are both us. The intention is not to allow them to go, but we are in January and anything can happen."
This season, Tosin has played in eighteen games and scored three goals, matching his career-best tally in a single season since becoming a professional.
