Brentford closing in on signing Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur-linked defender Kayode
Published: January 21, 2025
English Premier League club Brentford are edging closer to completing a deal for Italian-born Nigerian defender Michael Kayode, who currently plays for Fiorentina in the Italian Serie A.
According to Italian journalist and transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, the Bees are now closing in on a deal to bring the 20-year-old right-back to the Premier League, with negotiations now at the final stages.
The transfer fee for Kayode is expected to be around €17m, which could turn out to be a great piece of business for Brentford if the defender lives up to his potential.
Kayode, who has also been monitored by top clubs like Liverpool and Tottenham, is reportedly keen on the move to Brentford, where he hopes to get more playing time.
Despite being a key player for Fiorentina last season, Kayode has found himself relegated to a backup role behind Brazilian fullback Dodo this season.
As a result, Kayode is eager to make a move to a new club where he can get more opportunities to play.
Brentford, who have been long-term admirers of Kayode, is now in pole position to sign the Nigerian defender.
Kayode is a talented young player who has already made a name for himself in Italy, and his signing would be a major coup for Brentford.
Brentford's interest in Kayode is not surprising, given the defender's impressive performances for Fiorentina last season.
He is known for his pace, skill, and attacking prowess, which would make him a great fit for Brentford's playing style.
While nothing is done yet, Brentford's talks with Fiorentina are progressing well, and a deal could be completed before the end of the January transfer window.
