Osimhen keeps shining: Galatasaray striker reaches 21 goal contributions in thriller v Dynamo Kyiv
Published: January 21, 2025
Victor Osimhen continued to showcase his prowess in front of goal during Galatasaray's thrilling 3-3 Europa League draw against Dynamo Kyiv.
The Nigerian forward played a crucial role, scoring a crucial penalty and delivering a tireless performance that kept the Turkish giants competitive throughout the encounter.
Osimhen made his mark in the 53rd minute when he confidently converted a penalty to give Galatasaray a 3-1 lead.
And in doing so, the Napoli loanee took his goal contributions to twenty-one (15 goals, 6 assists) for the season.
After a VAR review confirmed the handball leading to the penalty, the Super Eagles star stepped up and sent Dynamo Kyiv goalkeeper Ruslan Neshcheret the wrong way with a powerful strike into the center of the net.
The goal underscored his composure and reliability in high-pressure situations.
Throughout the match, Osimhen remained a constant threat to Dynamo Kyiv's defense.
His aerial presence and sharp movement created several opportunities, including a powerful header in the 63rd minute that required an acrobatic save from Neshcheret.
The forward's ability to hold up play and link with teammates also allowed Galatasaray to sustain attacks against a resilient Ukrainian side.
Despite Osimhen's heroics, Galatasaray was unable to secure victory, as Dynamo Kyiv fought back with Andriy Yarmolenko scoring a late equalizer in the 81st minute.
The draw leaves Galatasaray with mixed feelings as they missed the chance to claim all three points in an intense battle.
