Monaco interested in Leicester ace Ndidi but proposed loan deal with buy option proves challenging
Published: January 23, 2025
French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco are making a late push to sign Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi before the January transfer window closes, according to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 28-year-old Nigerian international has been identified as a key target by Monaco, who are eager to bolster their midfield options with an experienced player.
Ndidi, who has been a mainstay of Leicester City's team since joining from Racing Genk in 2017, is reportedly high on Monaco's wishlist.
Although Monaco have yet to submit a formal offer to Leicester City, they are keen to explore the possibility of signing Ndidi on a loan deal with an option to buy.
However, the transfer expert cautioned that negotiating such a deal could be challenging, as the Foxes are not open to a move in that direction despite the buyout clause in his current contract
Ndidi's profile is believed to be an excellent fit for Monaco, who are seeking a seasoned midfielder to reinforce their squad.
The Super Eagles star has a proven track record in the Premier League, having won several honors with Leicester City, including the Emirates FA Cup, FA Community Shield, and Championship title.
The midfielder's impressive performances have also earned him individual recognition, including being named Leicester City's Young Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018.
Ndidi's experience and skillset make him an attractive proposition for Monaco, who are eager to strengthen their midfield options.
