Official: Four-time World Cupper Francisca Ordega joins Plumptre at Al-Ittihad
Published: January 23, 2025
Through official channels, Saudi Women's Premier League side Al-Ittihad have announced the signing of four-time World Cupper Francisca Ordega, marking a new chapter in her illustrious career.
The 31-year-old stalwart has signed a two-year deal with the Saudi Arabian club as a free agent, following the expiration of her contract with Russian side CSKA Moscow.
Ordega's move to Al Ittihad Ladies Club reunites her with fellow Nigerian international Ashleigh Plumptre, who also plays for the Saudi Arabian club.
The veteran forward's wealth of experience and goal-scoring prowess will undoubtedly be a valuable asset to her new team.
During her time with CSKA Moscow, Ordega enjoyed a successful spell, playing 84 matches, scoring 29 goals, and providing 20 assists.
Her impressive performances helped the team win several honors, including two Russian Cup titles, four Super League silver medals, and one Super Cup victory.
Ordega's departure from CSKA Moscow marked the end of a successful chapter in her career, but the Nigerian forward has now taken up a new challenge in the Middle East.
Throughout her career, Ordega has been a loyal servant to the Nigerian national team, representing the country at all levels, including the under-17, under-20, and senior teams.
The veteran forward has participated in four Fifa Women's World Cup tournaments (2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023) and has won several honors with the Super Falcons, including the Africa Women Cup of Nations.
