Sheffield Wednesday eyes Nottingham Forest's Nigeria forward with 12 career goals in PL
Published: January 24, 2025
Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly eyeing Nigeria national teamer Emmanuel Dennis as a potential signing in the winter transfer market.
According to The Star, Sheffield Wednesday are in the market for a striker before the close of the January transfer window, and one name being considered to bolster the forward line is that of Dennis.
Manager Nuno Espírito Santo has sidelined Dennis at Nottingham Forest, leaving him unregistered for the Premier League and unselected for any Cup matches this term.
Sheffield Wednesday are weighing up a move for Dennis, who has netted twelve career goals from his 52 appearances in the Premier League.
However, the deal will not be easy to pull off as the Owls face competition from English and foreign clubs.
Dennis has a bit of experience in the Championship, logging 1,034 minutes across nineteen games in two different spells at Watford, while scoring four goals.
The 27-year-old made a splash in his first season in England, contributing to 16 goals (10 goals, 6 assists) in 33 outings in the Premier League as Watford suffered relegation.
Dennis has had a challenging time at Nottingham Forest since joining the club in the summer of 2022 despite arriving the two-time European champions with a solid reputation following his exploits at Zorya Lugansk, Club Brugge and Watford.
A loan or transfer to a team offering regular playing time could help him regain his confidence and rediscover his form.
