'Far from the tempo' - Ex-Besiktas ace calls on Osimhen to raise his game amid tabloid issues
Published: January 25, 2025
Sinan Engin, a former midfielder for Besiktas, has issued a cautionary note to Victor Osimhen regarding his recent form at Galatasaray, amid mounting expectations from fans.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, was initially a fan favourite due to his stellar performances.
The Nigerian striker has netted 15 goals and provided 4 assists in 19 matches across all competitions, making an immediate impact on the Yellow-Reds.
However, recent performances have raised concerns, as the forward's output has dipped, and his recent form has started to affect Galatasaray's results both in the domestic league and Europe.
In the last two matches, Osimhen has only managed to score from the penalty spot, with both goals coming in a 1-1 draw against Hatayspor and a 3-3 draw against Dynamo Kyiv.
While the Nigerian international converted the penalty that salvaged a point for his team against Hatayspor, his overall performance was disappointing.
Osimhen missed several opportunities and was caught offside multiple times, prompting criticism from both fans and pundits alike.
The striker's recent struggles have not gone unnoticed, and ahead of Saturday's crucial clash against Konyaspor, Sinan Engin has warned Osimhen to address the issues affecting his form.
Engin, speaking on the Assist Analysis YouTube channel via habersarikirmizi, shared his concerns about the forward's recent play.
"Victor Osimhen is far from the tempo he had when he came to Galatasaray. He needs to pay attention to some things. Especially the tabloid issues," Engin stated. "The fans expect a lot from him."
With Galatasaray's supporters placing high hopes on Osimhen to lead the team to success, the striker must regain his form quickly to meet those expectations and silence the growing criticism surrounding his performances.
