Ipswich Town loan out teenage Nigerian midfielder to National League club
Published: January 25, 2025
English Premier League club Ipswich Town have loaned out promising Nigerian midfielder Emmanuel Okunowo to non-league club Braintree Town.
Okunowo has joined the Vanarama National League team on loan for the remainder of the season, according to a football transfers website.
The 19-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract with the Tractor Boys, and it remains to be seen whether he will sign a new deal or seek a fresh start elsewhere at the end of the season.
He has been on the books of Ipswich Town since the age of eight and signed a scholarship deal with the club in 2022.
Okunowo is calm and composed, showcasing excellent attacking awareness along with impressive physical attributes.
His strength also ensures he remains a significant asset when out of possession.
This season, he has represented Ipswich Town in the Professional Development League and Premier League Cup.
Okunowo will have to wait to make his debut for his new team as he has been left out of the matchday squad for the ongoing game against Ebbsfleet.
He links up with experienced Nigerian striker John Akinde at Braintree Town.
