'Not Icardi, not Batshuayi' - Turkish football expert labels Osimhen the best goalscorer in Super Lig
Published: January 27, 2025
Turkish football expert Serhat Ulueren has lauded Nigeria international Victor Osimhen as the best scorer in the Super Lig, placing him ahead of prominent players like Mauro Icardi of Inter Milan and former Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli in the summer, has made an immediate impact, scoring 16 goals and contributing 5 assists in just 20 matches across all competitions.
His impressive performances have made him a fan favorite, sparking growing speculation about his future at the club.
In a recent interview with habersarikirmizi, Ulueren was unequivocal in his praise for the Nigerian striker, stating: "No matter what anyone says, Victor Osimhen is the best goal scorer in this league.
"The guy's star is shining. No other player could have run and taken that penalty. Not Mauro Icardi, not Michy Batshuayi, not anyone else.
"The guy has long legs, he's very athletic. He doesn't have any long-term injuries."
Ulueren also emphasized that if Galatasaray has the financial means, they should make Osimhen's move permanent, saying, "If Galatasaray has the money, let them buy it. Otherwise, you can't go down into the well with this Icardi rope."
Ulueren also hinted at a potential exit for Osimhen amid interest from other clubs.
"Some teams have already made offers to Victor Osimhen. If he had received an offer like Real Madrid, PSG, Manchester City, then he could have gone in January, but otherwise, he would not play in Europe, he would play for Galatasaray.
"Why would he go? If he wins the championship, Galatasaray will directly participate in the Champions League. The money will come, he will show himself there. The fans love him too."
With Osimhen’s performances continuing to impress, it remains to be seen what the future holds for both the striker and Galatasaray.
