Official: After loaning in Umar Sadiq, Valencia bolster Femenino attack with Nigerian star
Published: January 28, 2025
Through a statement on their official website, Spanish Primera División Femenino side Valencia CF Femenino have announced the signing of 21-year-old forward Ezekiel Motunrayo.
Motunrayo is the second Nigerian striker signed by Valencia in the January transfer window, following in the footsteps of Super Eagles star Umar Sadiq, who was loaned in from Real Sociedad.
She has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep her at the club until June 30, 2026.
Motunrayo's move to Valencia CF Femenino is a significant milestone in her career, which has been on an upward trajectory since her early days in Nigeria.
Born on May 30, 2003, in Naija Ratels, Nigeria, Motunrayo has already made a name for herself in the Nigerian Women's Premier League, playing for Naija Ratels and Rivers Angels.
The Nigerian starlet has also represented her country at the international level, featuring for the Nigeria U20 team at the 2024 African Games.
Her experience and skills will undoubtedly be a valuable asset to Valencia CF Femenino.
As an attacking player, Motunrayo can play on the right wing and as a center-forward, taking advantage of her speed and good finishing ability.
Her versatility and skillset will provide Valencia CF Femenino with more options in attack, and it remains to be seen if she will make her debut against Deportivo Abanca on Saturday.
Valencia CF Femenino will be hoping that Motunrayo's arrival will boost their chances of success in the Spanish women's league.
They currently sit bottom of the current Liga F standings and Motunrayo's talent, speed, and finishing ability, is expected to aid the club in climbing out of the relegation zone.
She was handed her first senior call-up in November 2023, ahead of the Women's African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Cape Verde, replacing Christy Uchiebe in the earlier list of invited players, as the Benfica lynchpin was unable to make the trip.
