Ronaldo's strike partner: Boniface open to Al Nassr move, striker discussing financial terms
Published: January 28, 2025
Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has reportedly given the green light to a move to Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr, after Bayer Leverkusen decided to negotiate with the Saudi club.
According to Italian journalist and transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Boniface has already 'opened doors' to Al Nassr move and talks are now ongoing on the financial package for both the player and the club.
The 24-year-old did not participate in Bayer Leverkusen's training sessions ahead of their UEFA Champions League encounter with Sparta Prague on Wednesday, fueling speculation about his impending departure.
Al Nassr's delegation has been in Germany since Monday to negotiate with both the player and Bayer Leverkusen, with the details of the deal still to be discussed.
The Nigerian international, who joined Bayer Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer of 2023, has been in exceptional form, netting 29 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions.
His impressive performances have caught the attention of Al Nassr, who are reportedly keen to pair him with Cristiano Ronaldo in attack.
The Nigerian striker's potential move to Al Nassr has been on the cards for some time, with the Saudi club identifying the former FK Bodø/Glimdt hitman as one of the prime candidates to replace Brazilian winger Anderson Talisca who has joined Fenerbahçe.
Aside the lucrative nature of the deal, the prospect of playing alongside Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo may be too tempting to turn down for Boniface.
Despite recently signing a new contract with Bayer Leverkusen, which will keep him at the club until 2029, Boniface appears to be on the verge of a lucrative move to the Middle East.
The Bundesliga side is expected to demand at least €50 million for the striker's transfer, a fee that Al Nassr seems willing to pay.
