Official: 2022 Flamingoes invitee completes deadline day move from Brighton to Portsmouth
Published: January 30, 2025
Portsmouth have completed the deadline day signing of 2022 Flamingoes invitee Comfort Erhabor, on a loan deal until the end of the season, informs the official website of the FA Women's championship club
The 19-year-old joins from Brighton & Hove Albion, where she has majorly been a part of the club's youth setup.
Erhabor's arrival at Portsmouth marks the club's fifth signing of the January transfer window, and she will wear the number 56 shirt.
The young goalkeeper will be reunited with her Brighton teammate, Hannah Poulter, who joined Portsmouth earlier this month.
Before joining Portsmouth, Erhabor spent the first half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Plymouth Argyle in the National League.
The young shot-stopper was invited to Nigeria's U-17 women's team pre-tournament training camp for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in 2022.
In January 2024, Erhabor signed her first professional contract with Brighton & Hove Albion.
She then joined Scottish Women's Premier League side Hibernian on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign, where she made her senior debut against Hearts in April 2024.
Although Erhabor has yet to make an appearance for Brighton's first team, she has been invited to train with the main squad on multiple occasions.
Her major highlight for the Seagulls' U19s came in October 2023, as she played a key role in the team's win in the Nike Premier Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Dutch-born goalie who is highly thought of at Brighton will hope to aid Pompey women out of the relegation zone, as they are bottom of the current standings.
They have failed to win any of their twelve league games played this season, and they can now hope the addition of Erhabor would inject some youthfulness into the club's goalkeeping department.
