Official: Etete signs new deal with Cardiff City ahead of loan move to Bolton Wanderers
Published: January 31, 2025
Through a statement on the official website, Championship club Cardiff City have announced that Nigerian forward Kion Etete has signed a new contract.
The former Tottenham Hotspur youth teamer has extended his stay with the Welsh side until the summer of 2027 by agreeing to a fresh two-and-a-half-year deal.
Etete will spend the remainder of the 2024-2025 season on loan at League One club Bolton Wanderers, the Bluebirds have confirmed.
The striker has played 63 games for the Bluebirds since moving to South Wales in 2022, finding the back of the net nine times.
A product of Notts County, he enjoyed loan spells at Northampton Town and Cheltenham Town during his time at Tottenham Hotspur, where he scored 20 goals in 42 games across the Premier League 2, EFL Trophy, U18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup.
The imposing forward will enhance Bolton Wanderers' offensive play under new coach Steven Schumacher.
Etete is the third player signed by Bolton Wanderers in the January transfer window, after Joel Randall and Alex Murphy.
Bolton Wanderers tracked Etete for a number of year before eventually signing him on loan.
He struggled with injuries in the first half of the campaign, limiting his appearances to just one in the Emirates FA Cup.
For the remainder of the season, Etete will wear number 29 at the Whites, who are seventh in the League One table with 44 points from 28 matches.
