Middlesbrough poised to complete deadline deal for Iheanacho, to cover N3b salary

EFL Championship club Middlesbrough are poised to complete a deadline deal for 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner, Kelechi Iheanacho according to reports in the England and Spanish press.
Spanish sports daily Estadio Deportivo says Iheanacho will no longer be a Sevilla FC player by Monday, February 3 and he was absent from the training session that the Nervión team held behind closed doors on Sunday morning.
The Nigeria international was granted permission by Sevilla to travel to England to undergo a medical before signing for Middlesbrough.
The main reason for his call-up to Saturday’s game against Getafe was the convenience of catching a flight from Madrid, rather than any expectation of him playing.
Iheanacho declined offers from Greek clubs PAOK and Panathinaikos, as well as Italian team Venezia in the January transfer window as he prioritized a return to the United Kingdom.
The former Manchester City and Leicester City forward was a target for Scottish champions Celtic, but negotiations broke down, preventing a potential reunion with his former Leicester City boss, Brendan Rodgers.
Middlesbrough will cover nearly the entire two million euros (approximately N3 billion in Nigerian currency) that the Super Eagles star is still due to receive this season.
Iheanacho has not played for Sevilla since the start of the January transfer window due to speculation surrounding his future and he also suffered a minor injury.
Middlesbrough are seventh in the provisional Championship table with 44 points from twenty-nine matches.
