'If Osimhen scores 5, Morata scores 10' - Ex-Fenerbahce coach claims Spaniard is better than Nigerian
Published: February 03, 2025
Former Fenerbahce coach Rıdvan Dilmen has made a bold claim about Álvaro Morata, stating that the Spaniard is on the same level as world-class forwards like Harry Kane and Karim Benzema.
Morata joined Galatasaray from Atlético Madrid during the winter transfer window, linking up with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who has been a key player for the club since his loan move in the summer.
Osimhen has been widely praised for his finishing ability, netting 17 goals and providing five assists in 21 matches across all competitions.
However, Dilmen believes Morata can surpass those numbers due to his superior finishing skills.
Speaking on HT spor, via habersarikirmizi, Dilmen drew comparisons between Morata, Kane, and Benzema, highlighting the Spaniard's achievements and overall contribution to the game.
"Morata is a player on par with Harry Kane and Benzema. We are talking about a player who won the European championship and the Champions League with the national team," he said.
The Turkish pundit further emphasized Morata's efficiency in front of goal, making a direct comparison to Osimhen.
"If Victor Osimhen scores 5, Alvaro Morata scores 10. It was a big surprise for me. Don't judge Morata only by the goals he scores."
Dilmen also pointed out Morata's ability to link up play better than both Osimhen and Michy Batshuayi, stating that the Spaniard offers more than just goals.
"Michy Batshuayi and Victor Osimhen could not make those passes that would come from the midfield and disrupt the balance of the defenders, but Morata can do it. Galatasaray will probably return to the 3-4-1-2 system with Morata."
With Morata's arrival, Galatasaray now has a wealth of attacking options.
