Nottingham Forest striker Dennis holds talks with Toulouse, Werder Bremen also interested
Published: February 03, 2025
Nottingham Forest striker Emmanuel Dennis is eager to leave the City Ground, and his desire for a departure has attracted interest from some new suitors.
According to BBC Sports Journalist Nizaar Kinsella, Dennis has already held talks with French Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse , coupled with an interest from the German Bundesliga club Weder Bremen.
Dennis's desire to leave Forest stems from his lack of playing time under manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
Despite joining the club in a £20m deal in the summer of 2022, the 27-year-old has made just 25 appearances for the Reds, scoring only two goals.
Last season, Dennis had loan spells with Istanbul Basaksehir and Watford, and this term, he has not made a single appearance for Forest.
The Nigerian striker's hefty wages, however, present a significant obstacle for interested clubs.
Dennis earns £60,000 per week, a figure that Championship sides Watford and Sheffield Wednesday, who have also previously been touted with an interest in the Super Eagles forward, are unlikely to match.
Nottingham Forest will need to negotiate a compromise with any interested party regarding Dennis's wages.
Despite the challenges, Dennis is keen to move on from Forest, and the club may be willing to facilitate his departure.
With Forest chasing Champions League football, Dennis was not registered by the Tricky Trees for their league campaign this season, not to mention the impressive form of fellow forward Chris Wood.
Toulouse and Werder Bremen's interest in Dennis adds to the speculation surrounding his future.
Both clubs are likely to offer Dennis more playing time and a fresh start, which could be appealing to the Nigerian striker.
