Southampton's deadline day deals: Udoh joins from Antwerp; Arsenal product recalled from EFL club
Published: February 04, 2025
English Premier League club Southampton confirmed two deadline day deals involving two Nigerian players before the close of the January transfer window on Monday night.
The Saints completed the transfer of Victor Udoh, with the promising forward putting pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year contract, subject to international clearance.
Udoh joined Belgian Pro League side Antwerp in 2023 from Hypebuzz FC academy in Abuja and has since made 28 senior appearances.
He also stood out for Royal Antwerp II, where he scored 12 goals in 21 matches last season.
Udoh will begin training with his new teammates at Southampton once his international clearance is approved.
Meanwhile, Arsenal's Hale End Academy graduate Zach Awe has been recalled from his loan spell at EFL League Two club Accrington Stanley.
The central defender is back at Southampton to carry out his rehabilitation after suffering an injury.
During his time at Accrington Stanley, whom he joined in the summer transfer window of 2024, Awe caught the eye with his performances, featuring in twenty-seven games across all competitions.
The 21-year-old scored his first senior goal as Accrington Stanley defeated Chesterfield in a League Two match back in November.
