Fulham decide to sign Arsenal and Chelsea old boy instead of Super Eagles star Chukwueze
Published: February 04, 2025
Nigeria international Samuel Chukwueze missed out on a dream move to the English Premier League on transfer deadline day.
Fulham were in talks with AC Milan over the signing of the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup winner in the hours leading up to the close of the January transfer window but a deal will not be happening as the Cottagers have moved on to another target.
According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Fulham considered signing Chukwueze but decided to go for Arsenal and Chelsea old boy Willian, who has tons of Premier League experience.
With a total of 317 appearances for Chelsea, Arsenal and Fulham, Willian has made more Premier League appearances than any other Brazilian player.
The 36-year-old is returning to Premier League football on a free transfer, having cancelled his contract with Olympiakos last December.
Willian has worked with manager Marco Silva in the past, playing 67 games and scoring 10 goals with the Portuguese football tactician in the Fulham dugout.
Despite having a contract with AC Milan until June 30, 2028, the future of the Super Eagles star at the seven-time European champions is hanging in the balance.
The signings of Sergio Conceiçao, João Félix and Riccardo Sottil will reduce the playing opportunities for the former Villarreal star.
Since joining AC Milan in July 2023, Chukwueze has played 58 games in all competitions, scoring seven goals.
