Not just Chukwueze: Fulham fail to agree deadline day deal with another Super Eagles flank player
Published: February 04, 2025
Fulham's deadline-day attempt to sign Nigerian flank player Bright Osayi-Samuel from Fenerbahce fell through after their pursuit of Samuel Chukwueze also collapsed, Football Insider has reported.
Osayi-Samuel, who is in the final five months of his contract with the Turkish giants, is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with other clubs.
However, despite Fulham's late push to secure his services, Fenerbahce rejected their offer.
The 27-year-old has played a crucial role under Jose Mourinho this season, making 24 appearances across all competitions.
He has started 18 of those games and registered one assist. Despite his importance to the team, he has yet to agree on a contract extension with the Yellow Canaries, fueling speculation about his future.
On the final day of the winter transfer window, Fulham keen to strengthen their squad for a push toward European qualification initially targeted AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze.
However, the move for the Nigerian international, who has struggled to settle in Italy since leaving Villarreal, failed to materialize.
With time running out, the Cottagers turned their attention to Osayi-Samuel in a bid to reinforce their right-back position.
However, Fenerbahce refused to sanction a mid-season exit for the former QPR defender.
Following the rejection, reports suggest that Fulham are now exploring the possibility of signing Osayi-Samuel on a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer.
If the Cottagers can secure an agreement, the Nigerian international could return to England after an impressive stint with QPR.
