Morata and Osimhen strike force at Galatasaray: Ex-Besiktas sporting director gives green light
Published: February 08, 2025
Former Besiktas sporting director Önder Özen has expressed confidence in the compatibility of Alvaro Morata and Victor Osimhen, suggesting the duo can form a formidable partnership against Adana Demirspor on Sunday.
Galatasaray has enjoyed a flawless season in the Turkish Super Lig, with Victor Osimhen playing a pivotal role in their success.
The Nigerian striker, on loan from Napoli, has been in scintillating form, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists in 16 league matches.
Osimhen’s contributions have propelled the Yellow Canaries to the top of the league table, amassing 57 points from 18 victories and three draws in 21 matches, bringing them closer to defending their Super Lig title without a single defeat.
Despite his contribution, Galatasaray signed Alvaro Morata in the winter window to bolster their attacking options.
The decision has sparked discussions around Galatasaray enthusiast about how he would fit alongside Osimhen.
Addressing these concerns, Özen provided assurance to Galatasaray supporters during an appearance on the Vole YouTube channel via habersarikirmizi.
Özen praised Morata’s versatility and suggested that his all-around capabilities would complement Osimhen’s attacking prowess.
While Özen acknowledged that Morata may not possess the clinical finishing of Mauro Icardi, he emphasized that the Spaniard’s comprehensive skill set could work harmoniously with Osimhen's dynamic style.
“Morata is not a great finishing toucher like Icardi, but he is a complete forward. They will be compatible with Osimhen,” Özen remarked.
Galatasaray will face Adana Demirspor on Sunday evening at the Rams Park and aim to maintain their unbeaten run.
With the match getting closer, Galatasaray fans will be eager to see how this potential partnership between Morata and Osimhen develops.
