Confirmed: Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre signs new contract at Al-Ittihad

Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has signed a two-year contract extension with Al Ittihad Ladies, the Saudi Arabian Women's Premier League side officialy announced on Monday, February 10.
The news is a significant boost for Ittihad Ladies, who have been impressed by Plumptre's performances since she joined the club in 2023.
Plumptre, who has represented Nigeria at the Fifa Women's World Cup, has been a key player for Ittihad Ladies, helping the team to achieve success in the Saudi Women's Premier League.
Her contract extension highlights her dedication to the club, and the club's CEO, Domingos Oliveira, was quick to praise the player.
The decision to extend Plumptre's contract is part of the club's strategy to retain top talent and build a strong team for the future.
Oliveira expressed his delight at securing Plumptre's services for another two years, wishing her and her teammates success in achieving their goals.
Plumptre's journey to Ittihad ladies has been an interesting one. Born in England, she represented the country at youth level before switching allegiance to Nigeria, who she was eligible to represent through her paternal grandfather.
She has since become a senior international for the Super Falcons, representing the country at the 2022 WAFCON and the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Before joining Ittihad Ladies, Plumptre played for Leicester City Women, helping the team to win promotion to the Women's Super League in the 2020/21 season.
She made a dream start to her career with Ittihad Ladies, scoring a hat-trick on her debut in a 3-0 win over Eastern Flames.
