Official: Celtic old boy Urhoghide joins MLS club FC Dallas in record-breaking transfer
Published: February 12, 2025
With a statement on the official website, Major League Soccer outfit FC Dallas have announced the acquisition of Celtic alum Osaze Urhoghide from French Ligue 2 side Amiens SC.
The 2019 Nigeria U23 invitee has signed a four-year contract with FC Dallas, with a club option for the 2029 campaign.
He will occupy an international roster spot, pending receipt of his P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
Urhoghide's move to FC Dallas is historic, setting a new record for the highest fee paid for a defender in the club's history.
A central defender by trade, the Dutch-born player has scored three goals and registered an assist in 100 games as a professional.
After beginning his professional career at AFC Wimbledon, he joined Sheffield Wednesday in 2019 and went on to make 21 appearances for the club.
Urhoghide signed with Celtic in 2021 and played his first game for the team on December 9, 2021 in a UEFA Europa League clash with Real Betis.
During his time at the Scottish powerhouse, he enjoyed a loan spell at the now defunct Belgian outfit K.V. Oostende, where he made thirty six appearances across one and a half seasons.
Urhoghide links up with experienced American-born Nigerian defender Sebastien Ibeagha at FC Dallas.
