Ndidi in action for 77 minutes as Leicester set unwanted PL record after loss to Brentford
Published: February 22, 2025
Leicester City are in big trouble with the former Premier League champions suffering a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford at the King Power Stadium on Friday night.
The Foxes set an unwanted Premier League record following the loss to the Bees, becoming the first side to suffer six consecutive home losses in the English top-flight in a single season without scoring a goal
Wilfred Ndidi started and played for 77 minutes before making way for Oliver Skipp, as his minutes are being managed following a two-month absence due to a hamstring injury.
Despite the Foxes making a brighter start, it was Brentford that broke the deadlock with Yoane Wissa hitting the ball into the ground and over goalkeeper Mads Hermansen in the 17th minute.
After 26 minutes, Brentford had a second goal as Bryan Mbeumo, with a brilliant finish, doubled the advantage, before a free header at the near post from Christian Nørgaard gave the visitors a 3-0 lead in the 32nd minute.
Brentford's fourth of the net was steered home by substitute Fábio Carvalho in the 89th minute after Hermansen had made an initial save, blocking Mbeumo's close range effort.
There were boos from the Leicester City fans at the final whistle after seeing their side lose for the tenth time in eleven games.
Ndidi lasted fifty-seven minutes in his comeback game against Manchester United on February 7 and eight days later, played for 85 minutes in a 2-0 loss to Arsenal.
