Nathan Tella partially involved in team training ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt v Bayer Leverkusen
Published: February 25, 2025
Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella has resumed training with Bayer Leverkusen as he works towards full fitness ahead of their Bundesliga fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Tella, who played in Leverkusen's goalless draw against Bayern Munich, suffered a hip injury that ruled him out of their 2-0 victory over Holstein Kiel in the DFB-Pokal.
In his absence, Moroccan forward Amine Adli played a key role, scoring and assisting, while Patrick Schick also made an impact in the win.
According to BILD via Ligainsider.de, Tella has rejoined team training but did not complete the full session.
Instead, he worked individually towards the end of the exercises as he continues his recovery.
It remains uncertain whether the Nigerian midfielder will be fit enough to make the squad for Leverkusen's upcoming match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday evening.
Tella's return would be a major boost for manager Xabi Alonso, who has relied on him throughout the campaign.
The 25-year-old has featured in 30 matches across all competitions, contributing three goals and three assists.
As he regains full fitness, Tella will be hoping to impress and earn a place in the Super Eagles squad for Nigeria's crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
