Atalanta dazzler Ademola Lookman on the verge of being banned in Italy
Published: March 05, 2025
Atalanta dazzler Ademola Lookman is walking a disciplinary tightrope in Sunday's Serie A clash against Juventus at Allianz Stadium in Turin, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year is among several players on four yellow cards, meaning he is a booking away from a suspension.
If Lookman is booked against Juventus, the Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A — the governing body of professional football competitions in Italy — will hand him an automatic one-game ban.
The Charlton Athletic Academy graduate received cautions in matches against Udinese, Lazio, Como and Venezia
Against Udinese and Como, Lookman was booked for committing fouls, while he was yellow carded in games against Lazio and Venezia for dissent and the role he played in a mass confrontation respectively.
In recent days, speculation has been rife over the future of the Nigeria international following his public feud with Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini after a missed penalty in the second half of the Champions League meeting with Club Brugge.
But he has put the episode behind him and done well in his last two games, netting a brace against Empoli before going the full ninety in the goalless draw with Venezia.
Another Nigerian player in the form of Udinese's Kingsley Ehizibue is also at the risk of being banned as he is on four yellow cards.
