'He plays to the death' - Club legend says Galatasaray would be fifth in the table without Osimhen
Published: March 06, 2025
Galatasaray legend Tanju Çolak has heaped praise on Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, claiming the club would be struggling in fifth place in the Super Lig table without his immense contributions this season.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan last summer, has been a game-changer for the Turkish giants, propelling them to the top of the Süper Lig standings.
The 26-year-old has been directly involved in 27 goals across 28 matches in all competitions, scoring 22 times and providing five assists.
His performances have kept Galatasaray at the league summit with 65 points, four points ahead of arch-rivals Fenerbahçe.
Speaking in an interview with Ekol TV, as quoted by habersarikirmizi, Çolak lavished praise on Osimhen’s work ethic and determination.
"Osimhen, he plays to the death! There is a player like Osimhen who runs, fights, wants, can get his head into every ball, and throws himself into the middle," Çolak said.
"None of them wants to win as much as Osimhen. Osimhen is a character who does not want to lose with his ambition, determination, and desire. If it were not for Osimhen, Galatasaray could even be 5th."
With the season nearing its climax, Osimhen remains determined to help Galatasaray clinch the Süper Lig title before his expected departure in the summer.
The Nigerian international has attracted interest from several top European clubs, making his future one of the most talked-about topics in the upcoming transfer window.
