Published: March 07, 2025
Cyriel Dessers’ impressive form in the UEFA Europa League continued as the Super Eagles striker was named in Whoscored.com Team of the Week following his standout performance in Rangers’ 3-1 victory over Fenerbahçe.
Since Barry Ferguson took over the managerial reins at the Light Blues, Dessers has scored in three successive games and also has an assist to his name.
The Nigerian forward was one of three Rangers players included in the best XI after his goal and assist helped secure a crucial first-leg advantage in Istanbul.
Dessers opened the scoring in the seventh minute, pouncing on a defensive mistake to fire Rangers into the lead.
His sharp movement and clinical finishing set the tone for an energetic attacking display from the Scottish side.
Later in the game, he played a key role in Václav Černý’s goal, showcasing his ability to create chances as well as convert them.
Rangers’ dominant performance saw them outmaneuver a strong Fenerbahçe side, and their efforts were recognized with three players earning spots in the Europa League Team of the Week.
Alongside Dessers, Černý and Nicolas Raskin were also included after playing crucial roles in securing the victory.
Černý scored twice, while Nicolas Raskin contributions in the midfield were key to Rangers maintaining control of the match.
The recognition highlights Dessers’ growing influence in Rangers’ European campaign, with the Super Eagles striker proving to be a key player in their push for success.
With the second leg set to take place at Ibrox, Rangers will rely on his goal-scoring instincts once again as they aim to book their place in the quarterfinals.
