Osimhen raises concerns: Galatasaray striker asks to be substituted after scoring v Alanyaspor
Published: March 10, 2025
Galatasaray maintained their undefeated streak in the Turkish Süper Lig with a 2-1 win against Alanyaspor on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
However, the match was marred by concerns over the health of star striker Victor Osimhen, who scored the winning goal but appeared to suffer discomfort during the game.
The Nigerian forward had an eventful match, finding the net to secure the vital three points for Galatasaray, but shortly after, Osimhen signaled to the bench indicating his desire to leave the field.
According to Turkish outlet habersarikirmizi.com, the moment came after a confrontation with the Alanyaspor goalkeeper, where the 26-year-old seemed to indicate discomfort.
Responding to Osimhen’s concerns, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk took immediate action.
He complied with the forward's request and substituted Osimhen out of the game. Ahmed Kutucu was brought on in his place to complete the remaining minutes of the match.
Osimhen’s departure from the game raised alarm among fans and staff alike, as the striker's health and fitness are crucial to Galatasaray's title ambitions.
While no official update on his condition has been provided, the club will undoubtedly be closely monitoring Osimhen’s fitness in the coming days.
Galatasaray’s victory, which extended their lead at the top of the league, was nonetheless overshadowed by the uncertainty surrounding the Nigerian's fitness.
The club will hope that this is a minor issue and that Osimhen will recover swiftly in time for their upcoming fixtures.
As Galatasaray continues to push for the Süper Lig title, the fitness of key players like Osimhen will be essential for the team's continued success in the domestic competition.
