David Okereke: Besiktas, Trabzonspor, Samsunspor interested in forward setting the Super Lig alight
Published: March 11, 2025
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that three Turkish Super Lig clubs are exploring ways to sign in-form Nigerian forward David Okereke ahead of the summer transfer window.
The former Nigeria U23 international has set the Super Lig alight since his loan move from Italian outfit Cremonese last September, registering seven goals and two assists in twenty matches for Gaziantep FK.
With the exception of Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, Okereke is the Nigerian player with the most goal contributions in the Turkish top-flight this term.
His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed by clubs who stand a good chance of playing European football next season.
Samsunspor, Besiktas and Trabzonspor have made enquiries over the availability of Okereke, who still has a contract with parent club Cremonese until June 30, 2026.
Regardless of the buy option in his Gaziantep FK loan deal, he will not be returning to Cremonese next season.
The plan is for him to either continue playing in the Turkish Super Lig or potentially join another Serie A team for the 2025-2026 season.
Okereke lists Spezia, Cosenza, Club Brugge, Venezia and Torino as his previous clubs apart from the aforementioned teams.
He was promoted to the Super Eagles in 2019 but was an unused substitute in an international friendly with Egypt.
