Arsenal shot-stopper eligible for Super Eagles and Black Stars makes debut for England U18s
Published: March 24, 2025
Promising Arsenal goalkeeper Khari Ranson has made his debut for England at U18 level, allngeriasoccer.com reports.
Born in London, Ranson qualifies to play international football for the Super Eagles and Black Stars by virtue of being born to a Nigerian father and Ghanaian mother.
However, the English Football Association is ahead of its African counterparts in the race for the shot-stopper's services, given that he already played for the U16s prior to Saturday's debut against France U18s.
At the break, Young Lions coach Liam Bramley introduced Khari Ranson in place of Chelsea youngster Jack Austin.
Leo Shahar and Joshua Sonni-Lambie found the back of the net to give England U18s a two-goal advantage inside sixteen minutes.
Ranson's debut didn't go as planned as he conceded two goals in five minutes, with Enzo Molebe halving the deficit in the 71st minute before equalizing in the 76th.
West Ham United's Chukwuemeka Adiele was the other player of Nigerian descent in action for the Young Lions and gave a good account of himself.
Adiele played a key role in the Young Lions' opener with a well-timed pull-back for Leo Shahar to give them an early advantage.
Alongside Andre Annous, Ife Ibrahim, Joshua Ogunnaike and Samuel Onyekachukwu, Ranson signed a scholarship deal with Arsenal prior to the start of the 2024-2025 season.
The tri-national goalkeeper started his career as a holding midfielder and central defender but later switched to goalkeeper when the team needed someone to fill that role.
