'Key player' - Club legend urges Valencia to sign Umar Sadiq on permanent deal
Published: March 27, 2025
Nigerian striker, Umar Sadiq has received accolades from Valencia legend Santi Canizares following the player's recent performance for the club.
Due to his current form in Valencia the 28-year-old striker has scored 5 goals in 11 games for the Carlos Corberán's team, 4 of which have come in 8 LaLiga matches.
Responding to this achievements, the former Valencia goalkeeper said he will bank on Sadiq without a doubt on a permanent basis and that he has proved his worth as a striker.
"I would bet on Sadiq without a doubt. He had to come to Valencia CF to prove that his knee was healthy, but he's always been a great player," the former Valencia goalkeeper told Deportes COPE Valencia, via Estadio Deportivo.
"He's become a key player in this team. He has the characteristics of a striker who is essential for any team,"
The future of Umar Sadiq at Valencia remains uncertain, particularly regarding the club's potential decision to activate the purchase option included in his current agreement.
Historically, under the ownership of Peter Lim and the management of Meriton Capital, Valencia has been known for its cautious financial approach, especially when it comes to significant player acquisitions.
This trend raises questions about whether the club will be willing to invest a substantial sum to secure Sadiq's services on a permanent basis.
Valencia's financial strategy has often leaned towards prudence, focusing on balancing the books rather than making high-profile signings that could strain their budget.
This has been particularly evident in recent transfer windows, where the club has opted for more cost-effective solutions rather than splurging on marquee players.
Given this context, the decision to commit to a player like Sadiq, who has shown promise and potential, could represent a departure from their usual approach.
Moreover, the club's management will need to navigate the complexities of contract negotiations with Sadiq himself.
Establishing a new contract that aligns with both the player's aspirations and the club's financial realities will be crucial.
This process involves not only agreeing on salary and terms but also ensuring that Sadiq feels valued and sees a future with Valencia.
The club must consider how to present a compelling case to the player, highlighting the vision for the team and how he fits into that plan.
