Interest in Lookman: Transfer market expert reveals Napoli considering swap deal
Published: April 03, 2025
Napoli must decide whether to stick with Romelu Lukaku as their main striker or reinforce their attack ahead of the summer transfer window.
With several high-profile forwards potentially available, Napoli are evaluating their next move.
Transfer market expert Armando Areniello has highlighted three Serie A attackers who could be on the move at the end of the season, namely Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic, Atalanta's Ademola Lookman and Udinese's Lorenzo Lucca.
Among them, Napoli appear to be particularly interested in Lookman and Italy international Lucca.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year had a deal in place to leave the 2024 Europa League winners last summer, but Atalanta declined all offers, focusing instead on Teun Koopmeiners' sale to Juventus.
The situation created tension, with Lookman skipping training sessions in protest.
Lookman has made it clear he wants to leave Atalanta at the end of the season following a fallout with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini after a missed penalty in the Champions League clash with Club Brugge in February.
Areniello has suggested that Napoli could use Giacomo Raspadori as a makeweight in the proposed deal to bring the Nigeria national teamer to the Diego Maradona Stadium.
In quotes relayed by Il Sogno nel Cuore, Areniello said on ‘1 Football Club’, a radio program hosted by Luca Cerchione on 1 Station Radio: "There are three strikers who could change teams at the end of the season: Vlahovic, Lookman and Lucca.
"Two of these three names, Lucca and Lookman, are very popular with Napoli. In particular, for Lookman, Napoli could offer an interesting counterpart, namely Giacomo Raspadori, to lower Atalanta's valuation, which starts at 60 million euros".
Apart from Napoli, Premier League, Ligue 1 and La Liga teams are monitoring the situation of Lookman who has approximately one year left on his Atalanta contract.
