Tolu Arokodare: Brand new Nigeria international will reach Genk milestone against Anderlecht
Published: April 04, 2025
Brand new Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare is emerging as one of the most influential players in the Belgian Pro League this season, with his remarkable form for KRC Genk fuelling concern among their title rivals—particularly RSC Anderlecht.
Arokodare, who joined Genk in January 2023 as a last-minute replacement for Paul Onuachu, is now firmly established as the club’s attacking leader and a key figure in their push for the title.
The Nigerian forward was previously linked with a move to Anderlecht, and the Brussels-based side were reportedly monitoring his situation closely before Genk completed the transfer.
During his debut for Genk, Arokodare made an immediate impression by scoring against KAA Gent. After a challenging adjustment period, the 24-year-old has now fully settled and is producing consistently high-level performances.
Arokodare has been reflecting on his time at Genk, pointing to his debut goal as a special moment, although he believes his best memory is yet to come.
He is focused on helping Genk win the league title, and the upcoming play-off clash against Anderlecht on Sunday, April 6 provides an opportunity to take another major step in that direction.
The match will be of particular personal significance for Arokodare, who is set to make his 100th appearance for Genk.
With 37 goals and 12 assists in his first 99 games, he has maintained an impressive 50% goal involvement rate.
His track record against Anderlecht adds further intrigue—he has scored four goals and registered one assist in six previous encounters against the Brussels side.
Despite the previous transfer saga, the player has not made it a talking point, maintaining focus on his current club.
His consistent ability to perform against Anderlecht, however, has become a storyline of its own.
The possibility of Arokodare making a decisive impact at Lotto Park is now being seen as a serious threat to Anderlecht’s title hopes.
As Genk aim to solidify their position at the top of the table, Arokodare’s form will be crucial.
A strong showing in Brussels could not only bring Genk closer to glory but also reinforce his growing reputation as one of the league’s most dangerous forwards.
