Eseosa Sule: Celtic-reared striker nets another brace against Arsenal in West Brom's PL2 win
Published: April 14, 2025
For the second straight season, Celtic-reared centre-forward Eseosa Sule was the standout performer as West Brom defeated Arsenal in the Premier League 2, helping himself to two goals in a seven-goal thriller at Damson Park.
Sule, 19, ended his ten-year association with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic in February 2023 and signed a professional contract with his new employers West Brom three months later, after his seventeenth birthday.
The Glasgow-born player made his Baggies first team debut off the bench in a League Cup clash with Fleetwood Town last August.
Statistically, Arsenal are his favorite opponents in the Premier League 2, having tallied four goals in back-to-back games against the north London club, including a brace in a 3-0 win in February 2024.
After Cole Deeming opened the scoring for the Baggies in the fifteenth minute, Sule doubled the advantage at minute 27 but Arsenal hit back with goals from Sagoe Jr and Sweet to level things before the interval.
Deeming and Sule scored again in the second half, while Khayon Edwards pulled one back from the spot in stoppage time.
This season, the Scottish-Nigerian starlet has recorded twelve goals in all competitions for West Ham's development squad, comprising seven in the Premier League 2 and five in the Premier League Cup.
Arsenal's defeat didn't stop them from clinching a top-eight spot in the Premier League 2, which guarantees them a home tie in the playoffs.
