'I was very scared' - Insider shares conversation between Osimhen and Galatasaray board member
Published: April 18, 2025
Galatasaray insider Emre Kaplan has revealed that Victor Osimhen recently attempted to reach Galatasaray board member Ibrahim Hatipoglu, sparking curiosity and mild panic within the club.
The future of the Nigerian international has dominated headlines both at home and abroad over the past few months, with his loan deal at the Turkish champions set to end on June 30, 2025.
Osimhen has put himself in the shop window ahead of the reopening of the transfer window, with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Juventus credited with an interest in the Napoli-owned centre-forward.
According to A Spor's Galatasaray reporter Emre Kaplan, Osimhen contacted Hatipoglu while the executive was away from Istanbul attending to private business and the unexpected call left Hatipoglu startled.
"Victor Osimhen wants to reach Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş. Manager İbrahim Hatipoglu. İbrahim Hatipoglu is not in Istanbul at the time because he has a private business," Kaplan was quoted as saying by habersarikirmizi.com.
"Osimhen wants to reach him by phone and İbrahim Hatipoglu says, 'I was very scared when I saw Osimhen calling.' He says, 'I wonder if there was an offer or if something happened? We are always waiting. Oh no.'"
The suspense did not last long as Hatipoglu returned to Istanbul and met with Osimhen in person, where the striker's intentions were finally revealed.
Rather than discussing a transfer or professional matter, the Napoli forward had a personal request.
"When İbrahim Hatipoglu's work is finished and he comes to Istanbul, they meet and Osimhen says, 'My nephews have come, there is an infrastructure problem, can you provide the opportunity?'
"When İbrahim Hatipoğlu hears this, he relaxes by saying, 'No problem at all.'"
Osimhen has 29 goals and six assists in thirty-three appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray.
