'I have told my club to buy Tolu' - Top European scout reckons Genk will demand N46b for Arokodare
Published: April 18, 2025
A top scout has revealed that he has told the top European club he represents to sign Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare.
Arokodare has gained plenty of admirers ahead of the reopening of the transfer window, thanks to his excellent performances for Jupiler Pro League table toppers Genk.
On the international stage, the former Amiens SC goal poacher made his Super Eagles debut in a 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda's Wasps on March 21 and four days later, made his home debut in a 1-1 draw versus Zimbabwe's Warriors.
Genk are set to make a substantial profit on Arokodare, having signed the Nigerian forward from Amiens in early 2023 for €5 million, beating Anderlecht to his signature.
While Trabzonspor showed interest last summer, it's now expected that clubs of a higher caliber will soon come calling.
The scout expects Racing Genk to demand a fee in the region of 25 million euros (approximately N46 billion in Nigerian currency) for Arokodare.
"I have told my club: if you are looking for a striker, buy Tolu. I estimate that Genk will ask for 25 million euros, to land around 20 million," the unnamed talent spotter told Het Laatste Nieuws, via voetbalnieuws.
Racing Genk's technical director, Dimitri De Condé, recently stated that the club aims to retain its squad beyond the season, but acknowledges that departures for Zakaria El Ouahdi and Tolu Arokodare appear inevitable.
Arokodare is the joint-top scorer in the Belgian top-flight, with 18 goals in 33 games.
