'I'm 100% sure' - Insider confident Liverpool will make an attempt to sign Osimhen this summer
Published: April 21, 2025
Premier League champions-in-waiting Liverpool are reportedly preparing a move for Napoli-owned centre-forward Victor Osimhen this summer.
Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba, who has close ties to the Galatasaray star, claims he's certain that the Reds will make another attempt to sign the former African Footballer of the Year at the end of the season after missing out on his services last summer.
Liverpool are believed to be in the market for a new forward this summer, with Uruguay international Darwin Nunez heavily linked with a departure from Anfield.
Napoli are expected to part ways with Osimhen at the end of the season, with a release clause set at 75 million euros.
Osimhen has been on fire for Galatasaray and is one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe.
The Super Eagles star is attracting interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, but Liverpool could be in the mix, especially with doubts over the future of Nunez.
Napoli's unwillingness to engage with the Reds last summer left Anfield chiefs disappointed and the Premier League giants returned in January, only to be met with the same resistance.
Laba has described Osimhen as a massive upgrade, not a replacement for Darwin Nunez.
He posted on X: "Massive Upgrade not replace. Liverpool were one of the English teams that are heavily frustrated by Napoli wanting to do a deal at the start of the season.. they gave all access to Chelsea.
"They came back again in January 2025 and I’m 100% sure they will come back in June."
Osimhen has 29 goals and six assists in 34 matches across all competitions so far this season.
