Transfer guru David Ornstein drops bombshell: Osimhen won't join Man Utd or Arsenal this summer
Published: April 24, 2025
Transfer market specialist David Ornstein has shut down rumours linking Napoli-owned center forward Victor Osimhen to possible moves to Manchester United and Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils' priority in the summer transfer window is to sign a number 10 and a striker, with finances in place regardless of whether they qualify for European competition.
The Gunners are looking to strengthen in midfield and attack, while a winger would be brought in if one is offloaded before the close of the window.
Speaking to NBC Sports, David Ornstein revealed that players like Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko are among the forwards on Arsenal's radar.
However, he expressed doubt about more high-profile targets, including Alexander Isak, Victor Osimhen and others frequently linked to the club.
Ornstein emphasized that, while rumors may swirl, Osimhen is not on the agenda of Manchester United.
He pointed to Liam Delap, currently at Ipswich Town, as the club's number one target for the striker role.
Delap, who has a £30 million release clause if Ipswich are relegated, will make a decision on his future before the European U21 Championship.
Although Osimhen is tied to Napoli until the summer of 2026, the former African Footballer of the Year has been considered surplus to requirements following a dispute with the club’s management
Last summer, the 26-year-old was the subject of strong interest from Chelsea and Al-Ahli, but negotiations broke down before the window shut, with terms proving to be the main obstacle.
Turkish champions Galatasaray are interested in signing Osimhen on a permanent deal but are likely to be priced out of a deal, given that he has a €75 million release clause in his Napoli contract
Despite speculation surrounding his future, the Super Eagles star has been firing on all cylinders this season, having scored 30 goals across all competitions.
