'A real eye-opener' - Harriman-Annous names two Arsenal stars who helped him during first team training
Published: April 24, 2025
Andre Harriman-Annous is arguably Nigeria's standout player in the Arsenal academy this season, thanks to his goalscoring displays.
The versatile forward, who is in the first year of his scholarship with the Gunners, scored on his full debuts in the UEFA Youth League, EFL Trophy, Premier League 2, FA Youth Cup and U18 Premier League Cup.
Harriman-Annous is closing in on his personal target for the season, having scored eighteen goals in all competitions—just two shy of the mark he aimed for before the season kicked off.
The exciting teenager is believed to be on the radar of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who has promoted him to first-team training several times this season.
The Hale End Academy graduate has shed light on his invaluable experience training with the first team, singling out two senior stars for their mentorship—midfielders Declan Rice and Jorginho.
Jorginho, currently working on his coaching badges, has taken a hands-on role in training sessions.
"When we've been on the same team in training, he's always talking, giving instructions, telling me when to press, where to be – that sort of thing. The standards they set are incredibly high," Harriman-Annous explained to Arsenal's official website.
Rice, known for his leadership and intensity, also made a strong impression, reinforcing the high expectations within a squad competing for the Champions League.
"You can see exactly why they’re challenging at the top of the league and in Europe. It’s been a real eye-opener and something I’ve learned loads from," Harriman-Annous added.
Harriman-Annous has cited Arsenal icons Thierry Henry, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil as his role models.
