After failed deadline day move to Fulham, AC Milan still keen to flog Super Eagles star Chukwueze
Published: April 26, 2025
Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze could be sold by AC Milan this summer after a failed deadline day move to Premier League side Fulham in the winter transfer window.
Fulham were in talks with AC Milan over the signing of the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup winner in the hours leading up to the close of the January transfer window but the deal collapsed and the Cottagers decided to go for Arsenal and Chelsea old boy Willian, who has tons of Premier League experience.
According to Tuttosport, via Milan News, AC Milan are considering a move for Bologna forward Riccardo Orsolini, which could pave the way for Chukwueze’s departure.
The 25-year-old was already close to leaving the San Siro during the January transfer window and has struggled for consistent playing time under manager Sérgio ConceiçAo in recent weeks.
Apart from Fulham, there is reported interest from clubs in Spain and the Middle East, further widening the potential options for Chukwueze as he considers his next move.
Since joining Milan last summer, Chukwueze has found opportunities limited, despite flashes of his attacking quality.
Over the course of the 2024–25 season, he made 24 appearances in Serie A, featuring in 7 UEFA Champions League matches and 2 Coppa Italia games.
In total, the Nigerian has recorded 33 appearances across all competitions, accumulating 1,215 minutes on the pitch.
Chukwueze scored 5 goals during the campaign, but his impact has often been curtailed by competition for places and tactical decisions by Conceiçao.
His situation has prompted growing speculation that he could seek a fresh start elsewhere to revive his career.
The Nigeria international initially made his name at Villarreal, where his direct style and technical flair caught the attention of several top European clubs.
His move to Milan was seen as a major step in his development, but the lack of regular starts has raised questions about his long-term future with the Rossoneri.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Milan's interest in strengthening their wide options with players like Orsolini could hasten Chukwueze’s departure.
Fulham, known for targeting dynamic attacking players, may offer him the chance to establish himself in the Premier League, while Spanish and Middle Eastern clubs could also provide tempting offers.
With his future uncertain, Chukwueze will be looking to make the right decision to get his career back on track and reclaim a prominent role at club and international level.
