Igoh Ogbu: Most valuable Nigerian right-footed CB and Slavia clinch league title with 4 games to spare
Published: April 27, 2025
2025 Super Eagles invitee Igoh Ogbu has won the first league title of his professional career, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
With four games to spare, Slavia Prague have been crowned champions of the Chance League for the 2024-2025 season, securing their 22nd title with a commanding 5-0 win in Olomouc.
Ogbu was in action for the entire duration of the game, helping goalkeeper Jindrich Stanek keep a clean sheet in the comprehensive away win.
With a thirteen-point cushion over FC Viktoria Plzen, Slavia Prague have effectively secured the title, with their rivals now mathematically out of contention.
This is the second trophy Ogbu has won with Slavia since transferring to the capital outfit in January 2023, having won the Czech Cup in his first season with the club.
The former Lillestrom man has been a key figure in Slavia's defensive setup this season, helping the club post sixteen clean sheets in the Chance League.
He has also contributed offensively, scoring in matches against Viktoria Plzen and Jablonec this year.
Following a series of remarkable displays, his stock has skyrocketed, earning him the title of the most valuable Nigerian right-footed central defender, with a valuation of ten million euros.
Slavia Prague will be competing in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League next season.
Ogbu's future is set to be a hot topic in the summer transfer window, with rumors swirling about his potential move away from the Czech champions.
