'If I had a son like Osimhen' - Ex-referee wants Napoli loanee to join big clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid
Published: April 28, 2025
Former Turkish referee Ahmet Cakar has voiced his desire to see Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen move to one of Europe’s elite clubs, such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, or Inter Milan, as uncertainty continues to cloud the forward’s future.
Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been in red-hot form, playing a crucial role in keeping the Yellow-Reds in contention for a domestic double this season.
His impressive performances in Turkey have attracted attention from several top European clubs ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Despite Galatasaray fans hoping the Nigerian international would sign permanently, growing speculation suggests a big move could be on the horizon.
Speaking during an interview with BTV YouTube channel, as reported by habersarikirmizi, Cakar shared his honest thoughts on Osimhen’s future:
"If I had a 26-year-old son like Victor Osimhen, I would want him to play in big teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Inter," Cakar said.
"I'm not saying this to underestimate Galatasaray, but unfortunately these teams are better than Galatasaray, and I have to speak realistically."
Cakar also urged Galatasaray fans not to be disheartened if Osimhen departs, praising the impact the striker has had since his arrival.
"Galatasaray fans should not be upset if Victor Osimhen leaves. The man came and did his part. He did not only score statistics at Galatasaray, he acted by considering everyone," Cakar stated.
"Osimhen may leave but you may see that he will come back again when he is over 30 years old."
As the summer transfer window approaches, Osimhen’s future remains a key talking point.
While a move to a European giant seems increasingly possible, the Nigerian forward remains focused on finishing the season strongly and helping Galatasaray secure a memorable domestic double before deciding his next career move.
