'Will you bring Harry Kane?' - Turkish pundit questions Galatasaray's post-Osimhen plan
Published: April 29, 2025
Turkish football pundit Mehmet Demirkol has raised fresh concerns over Galatasaray’s attacking future, questioning the club’s options should star striker Victor Osimhen depart at the end of the season.
Speaking on the Socrates Magazine YouTube channel, habersarikirmizi.com, Demirkol pointed to contract uncertainties and injury doubts that could leave the Super Lig leaders in a difficult position.
"There is an interesting situation in Morata's contract. His contract ends in January,” Demirkol said, referring to Spanish forward Álvaro Morata.
"Is Osimhen leaving? Is Icardi returning? If Osimhen is leaving and Icardi is not returning because he is old, his ACL has torn. How will he return? We don't know."
The remarks come at a time when Galatasaray appear to be cruising toward the Turkish Super Lig title.
However, Demirkol suggested that beyond the current campaign, the club must urgently address a looming gap in the striker position.
With Victor Osimhen's potential exit on the horizon and Mauro Icardi’s future clouded by age and injury, Demirkol cast doubt on whether Morata would be a sufficient replacement.
“Morata may not be enough,” he stated. ”It is not easy to bring a player over Osimhen. Who will you bring? Will you bring Harry Kane?"
The rhetorical question emphasized what Demirkol sees as the unrealistic expectations surrounding Galatasaray’s next move in the transfer market.
He added a note of skepticism about another high-profile striker often linked to top clubs: “If Lukaku comes, they will say, ‘What Lukaku, brother?’'
Galatasaray fans have enjoyed a dominant campaign, buoyed by Osimhen’s performances and a solid defensive foundation.
But Demirkol’s comments bring attention to the challenges that may lie ahead, particularly in maintaining the club’s current momentum in domestic and European competitions.
With the summer transfer window approaching, all eyes will be on how Galatasaray’s management navigates what could be a crucial transitional period in their forward line.
The question remains: if Osimhen leaves and Icardi cannot return to form, will Galatasaray have the financial and strategic capacity to bring in a world-class striker — perhaps even someone of Harry Kane’s caliber.
