Raphael Onyedika: Club Brugge's Nigeria international midfielder suspended in Belgium

Raphael Onyedika will not take to the field on Thursday, May 1 when Club Brugge take on KAA Gent in a Jupiler Pro League clash at the Breydelstadion, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

The Nigeria national teamer has been banned by the Belgian Football Union for accumulating yellow cards, ruling him out of the visit of KAA Gent.

He picked up his third booking of the Jupiler Pro League playoffs in the 38th minute of the goalless draw versus Union Saint-Gilloise on April 27.

Onyedika had previously been booked in matches against Racing Genk and Union Saint-Gilloise.

The FC Ebedei product should be available for the Croky Cup final against Anderlecht this coming Sunday.

In the absence of Onyedika, one of Hugo Vetlesen or Casper Nielsen will probably be reinstated to the squad.

This season, the Super Eagles star has appeared in forty-eight matches across all competitions, logging 3,498 minutes, while scoring two goals and producing two assists.

Although the former FC Midtjylland ace is a defensive-minded player, he has a poor disciplinary record with seven yellow cards and two reds across all competitions.

Club Brugge have recorded two wins, three draws and one loss this season when Onyedika hasn’t featured.
