'If we were to write four pages' - Former Besiktas forward insists Osimhen deserves all the hype
Published: May 02, 2025
Former Besiktas forward Nihat Kahveci spoke highly of Victor Osimhen on the Kontraspor YouTube channel, stating that the Galatasaray striker fully deserves all the praise he's receiving from fans and pundits alike.
Osimhen is in the best form of his life, registering a career-high thirty-nine goal involvements since landing in Istanbul last September.
Thanks to the incredible form of the number 45, Galatasaray have a realistic chance of winning the double, having advanced to the final of the Turkish Cup and holding a five-point lead over their closest challengers, Fenerbahce, in the Super Lig title race.
Kahveci highlighted the Nigeria international's remarkable contributions to Galatasaray's success this season.
In quotes relayed by habersarikirmizi.com, he said: "If we were to write 4 pages about Osimhen in the newspaper, he deserves it. He is a great football player.
"If the league ends and Galatasaray wins the cup, Osimhen is the name that will be written about immediately. He played incredibly."
Kahveci went on to emphasize the vital role Osimhen has played in Galatasaray's title push, particularly during a crucial 1.5-2 month period.
"Especially in the 1.5-2 month period, he single-handedly took Galatasaray on his back and carried them, and Galatasaray is the leader with a 5 point difference thanks to Osimhen.
"If it weren't for Osimhen, we could have seen a completely different picture."
With his loan at Galatasaray set to expire next month and no place for him in Antonio Conte’s plans at Napoli, Osimhen is likely to make a permanent move this summer.
Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, as well as Saudi teams are monitoring the situation of the former African Footballer of the Year with a view to move in the summer transfer window.
