'A weapon' – Pundit hails Kayode's throw-in impact in Brentford's 4-3 win over Man Utd
Published: May 04, 2025
Sky Sports pundit Dan Long has highlighted Michael Kayode's throw-ins as a key weapon in Brentford's 4-3 victory over Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
Kayode, who joined Brentford from Fiorentina during the winter transfer window, created consistent problems for Manchester United's defence with his powerful and accurate throw-ins throughout the game.
His impact was most evident in Brentford's equalizer after Mason Mount had given the Red Devils an early lead.
The equalizing sequence began with one of Kayode's trademark long throws, which United failed to clear. In a physical duel, Kayode overpowered United youngster -Amass to keep the ball alive, heading it back into the danger area.
Meanwhile, Mikkel Damsgaard's follow-up shot deflected off Luke Shaw and past goalkeeper Altay Bayındır to level the score.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Long stated that Brentford deserved the victory, praising their strong performance in the early stages of the match.
"Probably no less than Brentford deserve, given their bright start here," Long remarked.
He further emphasized the impact of Kayode's throw-ins, describing them as a weapon that played a crucial role in Brentford's victory over Manchester United.
"Michael Kayode's throws are going to be such a weapon for Thomas Frank's side."
Kayode has enjoyed a resurgence in form since his arrival in the Premier League, following a difficult first half of the season with Fiorentina.
His physicality, defensive strength, and offensive threat through his dangerous long throws have added a new dimension to Brentford's play.
Though he has represented Italy at various youth levels, Kayode remains eligible to play for Nigeria, as he is yet to make a senior appearance for the Azzurri.
